Lent seems silly to me. We give up something for 40 days that we know we should give up permanently. Or we don't take it serious enough and we give up something that that is not standing between us and God. Instead, let's add more prayer, spend more time in the bible, recommit to church and serving others. And at the end of 40 days we can look back and see what God removed for us.
Fried foods,but it's good to give up even bigger things that might b good for your mind and even spirit as well. Fasting,prayer,and understanding are other things to do,if not look into anyday,wk.,month,of the yr to seek that closer relationship within yourself and God.
Im giving up conveinience food, so more packed lunches etc less popping to greggs for a belgian bun! The money i save will go to charity, and i will limit myself after lent.
This is how i 'do' lent, but a different food each time.
Be truthful and helpful to your body and give it up for good! Why else do you work out if you just fill you body full of crap again. CHANGE THE MIND AND THE BODY WILL FOLLOW!

I gave up pot and beer since jan 1st
